Diamond Information

The Suarez family personally travels to international diamond markets to ensure that diamonds meet the selection criteria based on cut, size, weight, color, and clarity that certify their excellence. Each specimen meets the conditions of the Kimberley Treaty and meets the requirements of the GIA (Gemological Institute of America).

Following these rigorous criteria, Suarez discards 99.5% of the units for not meeting the brand's quality standards.

The “carat” (weight) is the unit of measurement for diamonds. The weight of a diamond is measured in carats, abbreviated as ct.

The metric carat, approved in 1907, corresponds to 0.20 gr.

Diamonds are priced per carat, so their value varies exponentially with the weight of the gem.

Color refers to the natural hue of white diamonds. Most diamonds have a slightly yellowish hue, so the more colorless the diamond, the more rare and unique it is.

The grading standards are based on a pattern where diamonds are graded from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow). Suarez only accepts diamonds graded D through H:

Colorless - Exceptional white (D, E and F): They are difficult to find and their value is higher.

Almost colorless - Extra white (G and H): Practically colorless. Only noticeable when compared to another colorless.

The purity of a diamond is determined by its inclusions (natural traces of its crystallization process).

Suarez diamonds are at the highest clarity grade on the scale; they never have black inclusions, and we only accept diamonds that are at the highest end of the scale, from IF to SI1, as long as their blemishes are hidden and not black.

IF: Diamonds without any type of internal inclusion.

VVS2 / VVS1: Diamonds with very small inclusions, difficult to appreciate with a 10x magnifying glass and impossible to see with the naked eye.

VS2 / VS1: Diamonds with very small inclusions, visible with a 10x magnifying glass and impossible to see with the naked eye.
